Single Tooth Replacement

If you are missing a single tooth, the solution is our single dental implant procedure. Not only does our dental implant replace your missing tooth, but it also replaces the tooth root, making it the most natural feeling tooth replacement option available.

The Perfect Fit

A dental implant is a tooth replacement procedure in which a screw shaped implant is inserted into the jawbone to replicate the tooth root. After the implant fuses with the jawbone, creating a durable base, a crown is attached to the top of the implant.

When patients are missing a single tooth, a dental implant is the ideal tooth replacement option for various reasons. Implants are a permanent tooth replacement option, and provide the closest thing to a natural tooth. Implants also do not damage neighbouring teeth, whereas other tooth replacement options, such as bridges, often require sacrificing the health of nearby teeth.

Dental Implant Procedure

  • Placing the implant - During this step, the implant is inserted deep into the jawbone. Anaesthesia is used to numb the area for minimal pain. After the implant is placed, three to six months is needed for the implant to fuse with the jawbone. The process of receiving a dental implant is longer than other tooth replacement procedures, but it ultimately provides an extremely durable and lasting prosthetic.
  • Attaching the abutment - Once the jaw has healed, and the implant has successfully fused with the bone, the implant is exposed via an incision in the gums. The abutment is then attached to the tip of the implant. This will serve as the attachment site for the crown.
  • Attaching the crown - During the final step of the implant procedure, a crown is attached to the abutment. The crown is custom made to match the shape, and shade of the surrounding teeth.

Caring for Dental Implants

If properly cared for, dental implants can last a lifetime. Follow these tips to ensure the best results from your dental implants:

  • Avoid smoking - smoking can complicate the healing process of dental implants, and should be avoided in order to get optimal results from the procedure.
  • Keep healthy oral hygiene habits - brush and floss daily.
  • Maintenance - you should schedule follow-up appointments at the Cosmetic Dental Centre in order to prevent disease and complications. Appointments should be made every three to six months.
